Supported Video Sites

Learn which video platforms are supported and how to properly submit video links.

YouTube

YouTube is the primary supported platform. It should be the easiest to submit videos from.
The videos you submit must be either public or unlisted.
If you wish to submit a video that does not currently have a YouTube upload, you may be able to upload it unlisted then submit the link here. You will still have to follow YouTube's rules and guidelines for videos.

Standard Videos

You can submit a YouTube video simply by copying the URL in the search bar and pasting it as the video URL.
Standard YouTube videos can be submitted using any of the following URL formats:

  • https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID

Video titles and thumbnails are automatically fetched when you submit a YouTube link. You can optionally override the title if you prefer a custom name.

Shorts

YouTube Shorts are supported using the shorts URL format:

Shorts are treated the same as regular videos for ranking purposes. The vertical format will be preserved when viewing.

Vimeo

Vimeo videos are fully supported. You can submit public Vimeo videos using any of the following URL formats:

Video titles are automatically fetched when you submit a Vimeo link. The video must be set to public or have embedding enabled for it to work properly.

Dailymotion

Dailymotion videos are supported using the following URL formats:

  • https://dai.ly/VIDEO_ID

Video titles are automatically fetched when you submit a Dailymotion link. Make sure the video allows embedding.

Google Drive

You can submit videos hosted on Google Drive. This is useful for videos that aren't available on traditional video platforms. Supported URL formats include:

  • https://drive.google.com/open?id=FILE_ID

Important: The file must be set to "Anyone with the link can view" for it to be embeddable. Video titles are not automatically fetched for Google Drive links, so you may want to provide a custom title.

Video File Uploads

We currently do not support uploading video files directly. This is due to large amount of storage required to store video files. We may support this in the future if we receive enough support.

Troubleshooting

If you're having trouble submitting a video, try the following:

  1. Check the URL format - Make sure you're using one of the supported URL formats listed above.
  2. Verify the video is public - Private videos or those with embedding disabled will not work.
  3. Remove extra parameters - Try removing any extra URL parameters (everything after &) except for the video ID.
  4. Check region restrictions - Some videos are only available in certain countries.
  5. Google Drive permissions - Ensure the file sharing is set to "Anyone with the link can view".
